Built for roofers who live on photos and homeowner trust
Roofing is the trade where photos are the work product. The insurance carrier needs before-during-after. The manufacturer warranty needs the install detail. The homeowner needs to know that the rotted decking your crew found in the southeast valley was actually rotted, and not a supplement scam. The adjuster shows up two years later asking whether the ice-and-water shield extended past the warm wall, and the photo had better exist. Generic contractor software treats photos as a single upload pile. Real roofing software treats photos as the documentation backbone.
Workhand was built with photos as a first-class concern. Every photo auto-stamps date, time, and GPS. Photos tag to phase (before, tear-off, deck inspection, underlayment, ice-and-water, install, ridge cap, final). The homeowner sees the photos through a customer-facing portal as the job progresses, which kills 80% of the "are you guys coming back" calls and builds the kind of trust that produces five-star reviews. The selections sheet captures shingle line, color, ridge cap, drip edge, and gutter color with homeowner signoff dates so the color argument never happens. Supplements log with justification photos and homeowner signoff in-app. And every contractor on Workhand gets a public profile page indexed by Google for find-a-roofer searches.
Workflows we cover
The day-to-day motions of a working roofing crew, from inspection through final walkthrough and the Google review request the next morning.
Inspection and estimate with photo documentation
Walk the roof, photograph hail hits, missing tabs, exposed nails, lifted shingles. Photos auto-stamp date, time, and GPS. Build the estimate from your roofing catalog (shingles by square, underlayment by roll, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, vent stacks). Send by email, homeowner signs in their living room.
Customer selections for shingle line, color, accessories
Each job has a selections sheet. Manufacturer (GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Atlas), shingle line, color, ridge cap, drip edge color, gutter color, accessory choices. Photo reference per selection and homeowner signoff date. No color argument three weeks later.
Insurance claim photo logs
Photos tag to phase: before, tear-off, deck inspection, underlayment, ice-and-water, shingle install, ridge cap, final. GPS-stamped. The claim package is the phase-tagged photo set, pulled in one tap when the adjuster wants documentation eighteen months later.
Supplements logged against the claim
Add the supplement line item with justification photos (rotted decking, additional courses, code-required upgrades). Homeowner signs the supplement amount in-app before you order materials. Carrier-side approval still happens outside Workhand, but the supplement adds to the invoice automatically once approved.
Weather-aware scheduling
7-day weather forecast next to the schedule so you do not start a tear-off into a thunderstorm. Reschedule with one tap and everyone on the job thread (homeowner, crew, supplier delivery) gets the push update. Original schedule and reschedule both stay in the history.
Homeowner-facing progress portal
Customer opens a link (no login, no app install) and sees hero photos from each phase, phase status (tear-off complete, install in progress), crew lead's note for the day, and balance owed. Cuts the "are you coming back" call volume to nothing. Builds trust through the install instead of after.
Customer review collection with Google funnel
Auto-email the homeowner after final walkthrough with a review request. 4-and-5 stars route to your Google Business Profile (where local SEO actually rewards them). 1-3 stars route to private feedback so you can resolve the issue before it goes public.
Public roofer profile for find-a-roofer SEO
Every contractor gets a workhand.app/c/your-name page showing service area, manufacturer certifications, recent reviews, COI status, and a contact button. Indexed by Google. Real SEO asset for "roofer near me" and "[city] roofer" searches, especially paired with the Google review funnel.

What we are not
Workhand is not a roofing-specific CRM and supplier-integrated platform. JobNimbus and AccuLynx are built tight around the roofing sales pipeline, EagleView integration for measurement, supplier ordering tied to your CRM, and Xactimate workflow for insurance scoping. If you live in EagleView and your salespeople run a real CRM pipeline of leads through doors, those tools win on depth.
We do not generate EagleView reports. We do not integrate with Beacon, ABC Supply, or SRS ordering. We do not have a built-in Xactimate scope generator. Workhand attaches the EagleView PDF and the Xactimate sketch to the job as documents, but we do not produce them.
Workhand is for roofers who want a clean mobile-first app, a customer portal that builds real homeowner trust, flat pricing instead of per-user fees, and the public profile SEO asset. If those win over deep roofing-specific integrations, we fit. If not, JobNimbus or AccuLynx is the answer. See the Workhand vs JobNimbus comparison for the full side-by-side.
Pricing for roofers
Three plans. No per-user fees. No per-estimate fees. Most working roofing crews land on Pro or Team depending on crew size and whether there's a sales or office team.
Free
Pro
Team
Retail roofers running mostly homeowner-direct sales pick Pro. Storm-chasing and insurance-focused roofers with door-to-door sales reps usually need Team for the pipeline and commission tracking. See the FAQ for trial and refund details.
Questions roofers ask
Does Workhand handle insurance documentation photos?
Yes. Photos taken on the job auto-stamp with date, time, and GPS location. Tag them by phase (before, tear-off, deck inspection, underlayment, ice-and-water, shingle install, ridge cap, final) and they stay tied to the job for life. The adjuster wants documented before-during-after on a hail claim from eighteen months ago, you pull it up in one tap. Workhand does not replace EagleView for measurements, but the visual claim package lives in one place.
Can the homeowner pick their shingle color in Workhand?
Yes. Each job has a customer selections sheet. Shingle manufacturer, line, color, ridge cap, drip edge color, gutter color, accessory choices. Each selection holds a photo reference and the homeowner's signoff date. No argument three weeks later about which color was picked. The selections sheet is accessible through the customer-facing portal so the homeowner reviews and signs from their phone.
How do supplements work?
Supplements log as line items added to the job after the original scope is approved. Attach the supplement-justification photos (rotted decking, additional courses, code-required upgrades) and the homeowner signs the supplement amount in-app before you order materials. Carrier-side approval still happens outside Workhand. The supplement total adds to the invoice automatically once approved.
Does the homeowner see progress while the job is happening?
Yes. The customer-facing portal shows hero photos from each phase, the phase status (tear-off complete, underlayment complete, shingles in progress), today's note from the crew lead, and the balance owed. The homeowner opens a link, no login or app install. Cuts the "are you guys coming back" calls to nothing and gives the homeowner confidence the work is being done right.
How does weather scheduling work?
Schedule a tear-off or install. The schedule view shows the 7-day weather forecast next to the calendar so you do not start a tear-off into a Wednesday thunderstorm. Reschedule with one tap and everyone on the job thread (homeowner, crew, supplier delivery) gets the update push notification.
Can I show up in "roofer near me" searches?
Workhand gives every contractor a public profile page at workhand.app/c/your-name showing your service area, GAF or Owens Corning certifications, recent reviews, and a contact button. It is indexed by Google and shows up for local searches. It does not replace your main marketing site, but it is a real SEO asset, especially when paired with the Google review funnel that pushes 4-and-5-star ratings to your Google Business Profile.
Is Workhand a replacement for JobNimbus or AccuLynx?
Partially. JobNimbus and AccuLynx are roofing-specific platforms with deeper CRM pipelines, EagleView integration, and supplier ordering integrations that Workhand does not match. Workhand wins on price, mobile-first feel, the homeowner-facing portal, and the public profile SEO. If you live in EagleView and need supplier ordering tied to your CRM, stay with the roofing- specific tools. If you want a clean mobile-first app, a homeowner portal that actually gets used, and flat pricing, Workhand fits.
