Workhand vs JobTread

JobTread has become a go-to for remodelers and small custom builders who want real financial control on their projects. Their job costing and customer portal are genuinely strong. The catch is the pricing model — $199/month base plus $20/month per team member. A 5-person crew runs you $279/month before you've added any premium features. Here's the honest comparison.

Per month, all-in $89
5 users Included
QuickBooks sync Included
Customer portal Included
Year-1 total $1,068

JobTread (5 users)

$199/mo base + $20 per team member

Common questions

I run high-end custom remodels. Should I switch?

Probably not. JobTread's deep job-costing and selection-sheet workflows are genuinely strong for $150K+ remodels where every line item gets tracked against budget. If your average job is $50K or less and you don't need to itemize 200 cost lines per project, Workhand fits better and costs 70% less.

Can I migrate from JobTread?

Yes. JobTread can export customers, jobs, and invoices to CSV. We help with first-time migrations on Pro and Team plans — email [email protected] and we'll walk you through it.

What about JobTread's cost code structure?

If you bid jobs with CSI or master-format cost codes and report against them month over month, that's a real workflow advantage for JobTread we don't match. Workhand has flat cost categories. For the pool, lawn, and small-GC market we serve, almost nobody uses CSI codes — but if you do, JobTread is the better fit.

Is Workhand's customer portal as good as JobTread's?

For 90% of use cases, yes. The customer sees their estimate, invoice, job photos, and can pay online. Where JobTread pulls ahead: custom-domain branding (yourcompany.com/portal instead of workhand.app/j/), selection-sheet workflow (customer picks tile color, you record the choice), and deeper financial transparency (customer sees the budget breakdown). If those matter, JobTread is worth the extra cost.

Why is Workhand cheaper if it's missing some of these things?

It's not "missing" things — it's built for a different workflow. JobTread's pricing reflects the deep accounting/costing engine, the customer-portal flexibility, and the per-seat model. We bet most small pool/lawn/contractor crews don't use those features and would rather pay $190 less per month plus add unlimited team members for free.

Does Workhand integrate with QuickBooks the same way?

Both sync customers, invoices, and payments to QuickBooks Online. JobTread has been doing it longer and the integration is more polished — bidirectional sync of items, accounts mapping, etc. Workhand's QBO sync (shipping in v1.1) is one-way from Workhand to QBO and covers the 90% case. If you're a heavy QBO power user with complex chart-of-accounts mapping, test both before committing.
